Icebergs have an appeal that’s hard to put in to words. There’s the appreciation for the sheer age of the ice, the journey it has undertaken to get to the water and the unique shapes that are forged by the water and wind. This is a tabular iceberg which would once have been part of an ice shelf much like the one you can see in the background of the image. The soft clouds and their reflection in the water add a softness to an image that originates in a cold harsh climate. This image was taken near Snow Hill Island, Antarctica.

Description

My custom framed prints include a white archival mat with a foam backing and are professionally framed and finished.
Priced framed in a classic gallery frame made from solid wood with a black satin finish.

Your mat border will be 2″ on either side up to a print size of 16″x20″ and 3″ either side for prints larger than 16″x20″.

Image will be printed on Photo eSatin 300g which is a premium-quality, resin-coated inkjet photo paper which will not reflect glare like a glossy paper. This paper’s excellent ink retention properties produce an exceptionally large color gamut for bright, realistically saturated colors and accurate skin tones.

Delivery times for framed prints run 10 – 14 days. Shipping is available across Canada and North America. Pick up is available in Toronto.

  • Old Growth BC

    The Francis/King Regional park was originally home to the Saanich people who relied on the forests and open spaces for food and shelter. The Saanich took only the wood they needed from the giant cedar forests for their canoes, clothing, household wares and ceremonial objects. The Douglas Fir trees in this area are estimated to be over 500 years old. I chose to capture two images from one ancient tree that has been down for a long time.  It is still contributing to the forest with a carpet of moss as it slowly returns to the soil.   • Coexistence – Adelie Penguin and Fur Seal colony

    This small spit of land is home to a colony of Adelie penguins and Fur Seals.  You can see lines etched in the glacier in the distance - formed as it slowly shifts making its way to the sea.  The winds have trapped  icebergs and their bergy bits in the bay. All part of the cycle of the seasons in Antarctica. Location:  Prince Gustav Bay is on the east side of Trinity Penninsula, north of James Ross Island in Antarctica.   • Iceberg Reflections

    Scientists estimate that the ice within an iceberg can be up to 3,000 years old. That ice begins its life as snow which becomes compressed into a glacier eventually making its way to the water where waves, sun and wind continue to sculpt the ice into so many colourful and interesting shapes. When I see an iceberg, I often wonder who or what might have walked on this ice when it was back on land. The day I photographed this one, we were blessed with a gorgeous sunny day and flat water which made for perfect reflections. Image taken February 2023 near Snow Hill Island Antarctica.
